Cinco de Derby
May 5 @ 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Every few years, Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby fall on the same day, Saturday, May 5. This year, both festive happenings coincide and Jack Rose Dining Saloon is celebrating with a “Cinco de Derby” Rooftop Fiesta + Viewing Party, complete with mint juleps and frozen margaritas, derby punches and specialty cervezas, Kentucky hot browns and tacos, and a live broadcasting of the 2018 Run for the Roses on seven large flat-screen TVs throughout the building.
And those looking forward to “the greatest two minutes in sports” can watch alfresco on six large flat screen TVs located throughout the rooftop terrace, Balcony Room and Tiki bars.
For those looking for a more intimate viewing experience, basement cocktail den Dram & Grain will host an underground viewing party from 4-8 p.m. featuring Derby-themed specialty cocktails and juleps. Dram & Grain’s regular a la carte cocktail menu will also be available. The TV-less bar will bring in a large flat screen TV for the annual occasion. Though open to the public and free to attend, reservations are required and can be made by texting (202) 607-1572. Dram & Grain will resume regular service for its 9:30 p.m. seating.
The first-floor Saloon bar and dining room will open early at 4 p.m. with classic Mint Julep specials and its regular dinner and beverage menu available.
“Cinco de Derby” Rooftop Fiesta + Viewing Party is free and open to the public, and guests are encouraged to don their Derby best – bow ties, seersucker, and big hats.
